Stefani – Owner/Stylist
Stefani started grooming school in 2010 after grooming her own pets for years – she never found a grooming salon she “clicked” with, and wanted to find a different way of operating. Wagsmore was born in her home in 2011, we have clients from “the garage” who still visit today!
Stefani owns show line Border Terriers with whom she participates in Conformation, Dock Diving, Sprinters, and every other dog sport she can get involved with. If your dog comes regularly, it’s likely that one of Stefani’s little brown dogs is their best friend!
Wendy – Senior Stylist
Wendy worked at the salon where Stefani attended grooming school, and when Wagsmore opened in Stefani’s garage, Wendy knew it was a move she wanted to make.
Wendy has introduced Stefani and Max to the wonderful addiction that is crochet, she also has a large menagerie of pets to come home to – including a jumping spider, a tortoise, an axolotl, two tarantulas, and a bearded dragon! Not to mention her Dachshund, Nala, and her Australian Shepherd, Lyra. On top of her two little boys, Wendy leads a busy life but is always happy to slow down and enjoy her time with the dogs on her table.
Jen – Stylist
Jen has been grooming for over 23 years, and has been with Wagsmore for over 5 years altogether! She appreciates that she can spend the time needed for each dog to look and feel their best – just like so many of your dogs, she thrives in a slow-paced environment and is proud to have been with us for so long.
You may notice Jen’s little poodle Luca resting in his shoulder bag or in Jen’s arms while she works! He prefers to have a ride anywhere he goes and is just happy to spend the day with his mom at work.
Risako – Stylist
Risako is the newest addition to the back of the salon. She completed grooming school in 2022, after moving from Japan to Canada in 2018. She was hired right after graduation with a dedication to constant improvement and has learned so much in her time with us!
In her free time, Risako enjoys trying new haircuts on her Poodle, Hana. She’s always looking for a new hiking trail to explore on the weekend!
Max – Receptionist/Bather/Stylist in Training
Max is Stefani’s youngest daughter – a live-in receptionist during the early days of Wagsmore! She has grown up in and around the grooming industry and had so much fun with the foster dogs Stefani brought in during her childhood.
After leaving the business for a few years to be a teenager, Max is back and has achieved a certificate in force free dog training with Naughty Boyz. She plays more of a support role, doing anything from answering calls and responding to emails as receptionist to bathing and drying for the stylists in the pursuit of becoming a stylist herself!
Stephanie – Receptionist
Not to be confused with Stefani the owner, Steph has been our part-time receptionist since the fall of 2022. Steph’s love for all your dogs brings such joy to the salon, and we’re so happy to have her as part of our team! Coming from the doggy daycare industry, Steph is used to the organized chaos of the dog world AND loves to interact with our clients – something she didn’t get in her previous jobs.
Steph has a soft spot for big brown and black dogs; she has two of her own at home PLUS two cats – one of which is a Sphynx! You can catch Steph on her days off enjoying the sunshine in her big backyard, and getting out of the city every opportunity she has.
